David Crockett Birthplace State Park

Limestone, Tennessee

About

This 105-acre Tennessee state park along the Nolichucky River marks the traditional birthplace of frontiersman, soldier, and politician David Crockett, who was born near Limestone in 1786. The park features a replica 18th-century birth cabin, a museum, and a stone monument containing native stones from each of the states Crockett lived in or visited. It also includes a large campground with 88 sites ranging from full hook-up RV sites to primitive tent sites, plus hiking trails along the riverbank and bluffs. The park sustained extensive flood damage from Hurricane Helene in September 2024 and remains closed to all visitors as of 2025-2026 for safety and reconstruction.
